Bearing Returnable Racks

The bearing returnable racks were designed in response to the packaging the bearings were coming in. These bearings came from overseas, packaged in a wooden crate, and created a lot of waste on the assembly lines. This took time away from assemblers and presented safety hazards for them when unloading the bearings.

The bearings were already being delivered to our 3PL warehouse before coming to the manufacturing facility. So we took advantage of this by creating racks that would improve lineside presentation and decrease the safety hazards of the bearings on the line. These bearings would now be repacked in these racks at our offsite warehouse reducing their footprint at the facility and the amount of dunnage on the assembly lines.

Boom Lift Carrying Rack

The boom lift carrying rack was designed to carry pre-assembled booms to and from assembly lines and storage racks. Starting out, these booms would be taken via forklift on bare metal forks. The metal-to-metal contact increased the chances of the boom sliding off the forks or would cause damage to the painted booms.

This carrying rack had rubber material on the topside where the boom would sit to prevent sliding and damage to the painted parts. The forklift would slide this rack onto its forks and secure it for use.

3x3 Modular Aquarium Plant Holder

The idea for the aquarium plant holder came from seeing aquarium shops with plants in 2-inch net pots that had to be weighed down. If the weights fell out, the plant would float to the top. Some plants also could not stand up due to their roots coming out of the bottom of their net pot.

This is a modular 2-inch net pot holder that helps to solve these problems. It holds the plants in place by being weighted and a snug fit around the net pots. It also holds the plants upright by raising the pots off the bottom of the aquarium. This allows the roots and plant stems to grow in their natural position without falling over. This design is also modular by giving each section the ability to link to others.

Automatic Aquarium Fish Egg Collector

In the aquarium world some fish scatter their eggs on the bottom of the aquarium. When this happens, the eggs are vulnerable to being eaten by their parents or other fish. In order to prevent this, an automatic egg collector can be used to separate the eggs from the rest of the aquarium.

The egg collector has a grate where the eggs will fall through into a collection area. The eggs are then transported through a pipe via suction from air being used to pull water up the pipe. The eggs then land in an exterior smaller aquarium where they will be protected and are able to hatch and grow.

Aquarium Display Racks

Koi Holding Tanks

The local aquarium store where I developed the website wanted a rack to hold and display multiple tanks like a bookshelf. After thorough research and review, this design was created and modeled. The aquariums will have auto water change features and overflow piping on the backside of the rack. All of this will be hidden from the customer’s view to keep the rack neat and clean.

Koi holding tanks made from IBC totes and treated wood. This system replaced a previous one that would overflow quite often. The new one relies on gravity to pull water into the barrel where the pump sits. It is unlikely this system will overflow without more water being added to it.
